Magma Series

The Magma series is inspired by photographs of lava flows. The vibrant colours of the molten rock against the black, grey, and browns of the cooling rock made me want to capture that in pottery form. Using my signature of the rock texture, organicly shaped bowls, and flowing glazes, I feel I've been able to capture a part of the wonder of geology. The clay colours are limited to browns, greys, and terracotta, the darker colours represent the rock, while the terracotta is intended to give a hint of warm, to show the heat of the magma that is held within the rocks. The dark ceramic provides a perfect juxtaposition to the vibrant glazes that swirl and flow inside the vessels.
